Self esteem reflects an individual’s overall emotional evaluation of their worth.It encompasses beliefs about oneself, as well as emotional states such as pride, triumph, despair and shame.
Self esteem is simply feeling good about yourself.
Low Self Esteem is the opposite of Self Esteem. People with low self esteem are more troubled by failure and tend to exaggerate events as being negative.
Low self esteem can leave you feeling insecure and unmotivated. Having little self belief in yourself can stop you from living the life you want to live.
Tips to Build Your Self Esteem
Be Nice to Yourself.
Always make an effort to be nice to yourself. Try to challenge negative thoughts when they come. Be optimistic about everything in life, because good thinking brings about good product.
Do not try to compare yourself to others. According to the bible, comparing themselves with themselves is not wise. It is wisdom to know you are one of a kind. Just be you. I can assure you there is no other you.
Get Moving, Increase Your Motivation.
Focus on your goals and achievements.Practice setting goals and build confidence.
You can set goals by writing them in a jotter, electronic notepad or memorizing it.But memorizing without writing is not advisable to do. Where there is no goal, everything including useless events become achievement.But achievement is the fulfillment of a proposed action (goal).Lets be self motivated.Don’t wait for people to motivate you before you reached for your set goals.Be self motivated, and you will feel confident when you achieve your set target.
Strive to be the best version of yourself. It’s also important to accept perfection is an unrealistic goal except with God.
You can be the best version of yourself by reading books, attending seminars, having a good mentor,improving in whatever good you find yourself doing and most importantly praying to God, because what you can’t have spiritually, you can’t get physically.
Remember everyone makes mistakes
You have got to make mistakes in order to learn and grow. So try not to beat yourself up.
Focus On What You Can Change.
Focus your energy in identifying the things that are within your control and seeing what you can do about them.
Do the things that make you happy.
Celebrate the small goals and achievements you have made so far as it’s a great way to build and to boost your confidence.
Be a Confidant To Other People
Help people boost their confidence as it will make you feel good about yourself.
Surround Yourself With a Supportive Squad.
Find those who make you feel better about yourself and avoid those who trigger your negative thinking. Go to people who celebrate and see the good in you, rather than people who ignore you. This will boost your self esteem.
There live a man in Lagos,when he was in secondary school precisely a boarding school.He always wake up at 4 a.m to take his bath so that no body will see him bathing.why was he ashamed? he was ashamed because he had birth marks that runs from his back to his hand.
This made him to always wear long sleeve shirts in other to hide the marks.His self esteem was low because of natural marks he had on his body.He could not pull his shirt neither to bathe in presence of other guys.This last through out his college days.
But a day came ,when he overcame this self esteem issue.He overcame it when he discovered people paying heavily to draw tattoos on their body. Beginning from that time, he became proud of his marks.
No matter your looks,shape,size,don’t always have low self esteem. Instead celebrate your self for people to celebrate with you.if you despise yourself, people will despise you.Be bold and proud of who you are.You are the only you in the universe.
In conclusion, having self esteem is different from being arrogant, proud or disrespectful. Let’s be the best we can, without violating the fundamental human rights and the norm of the society.
